Ergonomics/Human Factors Engineering at Work-place

Abstract
Early man used to design his tools to suit his own purpose and capacity. After industrial revolution a variety of complex tools and equipment with least botheration for workers’ capacities were introduced. They were forced to work with ill-suited tools and dangerous machines under atrocious conditions. Worker had either to fit or quit the job. Unacceptably high levels of industrial accidents and diseases prevailed. Industrial productivity was very low. It has come to be realized that unless human capacities and limitations are considered while designing jobs and job conditions, industrial safety and productivity cannot be improved and that was the dawn of Ergonomics.
